Collate the questions from Learning Unit 4a and create one survey, print the survey, prepare students on approaching people politely, safely and consistent with relevant safeguarding policies.

step 1
Introduction – short briefing about the approach
- Talk through the survey
- Purpose of the survey
- Determine approach
- Divide task and roles
- Make sure to ask a representative and diverse group of people
- Think of a safe way to ask the questions (i.e. Covid, safeguarding)
- Interview techniques – approaching people: discuss polite behaviour (protocol/etiquette)
- Interview techniques – structure: introduction, core, completion
- Interview at least 15 people

Handout the printed survey.

Students take the survey into the streets.

The teacher should ensure that they are visible, observe student progress throughout the activity, and offer support where this is needed.

Students return to the classroom and participate in evaluating the survey exercise.

The survey data is then collated digitally using Microsoft Excel.

Students begin to process the information in preparation for Learning Unit 6.
