Introduction – the theory of making a successful survey or questionnaire.

Present the assignment – students will formulate questions for their survey to provide them with the insights they need to start solving their design problem.

Meeting – Presentation and discussion about what it takes to make a quality survey

  • Determine the purpose of the survey 
  • What information is required from local residents?
  • A survey should be specific, understandable, neutral and complete
  • Survey questions should mutually exclude each other
  • Survey questions can feature open or closed questions
  • Survey questions should appear in a logical order
  • Think about ethics - ensure that the privacy of respondents is guaranteed.

Divide the class into working groups and formulate questions per subject: quantity of litter in the area, dealing with waste on the street, existing litter bins, encouraging people to throw waste in the bin through punishment, encouraging people to throw waste in the bin through gamification, encouraging people to throw waste in the bin by rewarding, encouraging people to throw waste in the bin by nudging.
